Get to Know Our Massage Therapists
To better serve our practice members, we have two massage therapists on staff. Tamyra Bowman and Angela Brown are here to provide you with the massage techniques you need to recover your health and let the tension of your day melt away. They offer a variety of different methods and can tailor your massage session to your individual needs.
You’ll meet with your massage therapist for a quick consultation before getting started. That’s when you can let Tamyra or Angela know of your individual needs and what you’d like to achieve from getting a massage. Your session may involve different techniques to suit you. Afterward, they’ll advise you on any tips they have to help you improve your condition.
What to expect: When you arrive, you’ll be warmly greeted and given an intake form to fill out. If you are already a chiropractic patient with us, your chiropractor will have shared their notes and ideas with your massage therapist. If you’re new to us, we’ll give you a tour of our facility and bring you to the massage room.
Our massage room is elegant, warm and relaxing. You’ll have a quick consultation with your massage therapist. Then, you’ll be given privacy to undress to your comfort level. Your therapist will knock before reentering the room. They will then perform your massage based on your intake forms and any doctor’s notes.
When completed, you’ll be left alone to dress and given a glass of water. Please give us any feedback you have on our session. Your massage therapist may give you any lifestyle advice they think you can benefit from. The final step is checking out at the front desk, where you can schedule for your next massage if you wish.
Who Massage is right for: Do you sit at a desk all day? Does your work involve standing, lifting or driving? Perhaps you’re suffering from pain, recovering from surgery or an injury or want to have overall better health. Nearly everyone can benefit from having a massage. Our massages are therapeutic, which means they have a specific outcome such as relieving pain or helping your flexibility. We’ll work with your individual goals to craft the massage that’s right for you.
There are few people who massage is contraindicated for. From babies to senior citizens, nearly everyone can benefit from having a massage. We recommend that you schedule a massage at regular intervals to maximize the therapeutic benefits.
Combining Massage and chiropractic: You don’t have to be a chiropractic patient to get a massage at our office. You can call and schedule only for a massage session if you wish. Many people benefit, however, from combining massage therapy with chiropractic care. While chiropractic addresses the structure of your body, massage can address the supportive structures such as muscles and ligaments.
If you’re a chiropractic patient with Dr. Godwin, he and your massage therapist can collaborate on your case. You’ll get the benefit of both their expertise to maximize your results.
